Port Washington, United States – Firefighters in New York responded to a rescue involving an osprey that had become tangled in fishing line while hanging from a high branch in a tree.
The Port Washington Fire Department said crews were dispatched at around 11:30 a.m. on April 9 following a call for an animal rescue.
Firefighters used a lift truck to reach the bird, carefully cut the fishing line, and brought the osprey safely down to the ground.
After the rescue, the bird was handed over to a state-licensed wildlife rescuer for rehabilitation.
It is expected to be returned to the wild once it has recovered.
