Forest Fire Rages Across Cantabria, Spain

Renedo de Cabuérniga, Cantabria, Spain – A large forest fire is actively burning in Cantabria, as shown in video footage by 112 Cantabria. Massive plumes of white, gray, and orange smoke rise from the hillside, spreading across the valley, while flames engulf parts of the trees under overcast skies.

The video was posted on April 9, 2026, as an official update from the Cantabria Emergency Center. At that time, two fires remained active in Cantabria—Vega de Pas and Los Tojos—while five others were under control. The total number of forest fires in Cantabria for April 2026 had reached 144.

The footage highlights the fire’s intensity and the ongoing challenges for emergency teams trying to contain it. Smoke continues to billow across the valley, signaling the persistent threat to nearby areas.

“Two forest fires remain active in Vega de Pas and Los Tojos. Five are under control, bringing the total number of forest fires this April to 144,” the official update stated.
