London, United Kingdom – Video filmed by X user Tony shows the Tate Modern gallery completely closed and sealed off by police.

The handheld footage shows police tape blocking the entrance, with several officers positioned around the site. The main building is shut to the public, while a small number of people stand outside watching.

The Tate Modern was evacuated and closed on April 8, 2026, after a suspicious package was discovered inside the gallery. The surrounding area was cordoned off as a precaution while police and bomb disposal units carried out checks.

The gallery remained closed for several hours during the investigation.

The poster wrote: “Something serious happening at Tate Modern. The whole building has been closed off.”
