Shocking Footage Captures Man Nearly Pushed In Front Of Light Rail Train In Seattle

Seattle, Washington – A man is facing an attempted-murder charge after security footage appeared to show him trying to shove a stranger in front of a moving train at the Northgate light rail station on March 19.

The video shows the victim looking at his phone as the suspect, later identified as Elisio Melendez, approaches from behind and shoves him twice toward a train pulling into the station.

The King County Sheriff’s Office said the victim “was able to steady himself” before the suspect “ran off.”

Detectives traced Melendez to a nearby mental health community facility where he lived and arrested him, the sheriff’s office reported.

“The King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office has charged him with Attempted Murder in the Second Degree,” authorities said.

Melendez has a long history of mental illness and violent behavior. During his arraignment on March 31, a judge ordered him to undergo a mental health evaluation.
