Firefighters Rescue 40 Campers In Sicily Amid Floods

San Fratello, Italy – On April 3, 2026, dramatic rescue operations took place in the woods of San Fratello, Messina province, as heavy rain and flooding swept through the area.

Video filmed by X user Vigili del Fuoco shows high-angle views of a fast-flowing, muddy torrent with firefighters in red and yellow gear working along the rocky banks.

A bright yellow-and-black inflatable rescue boat marked “VIGILI DEL FUOCO” ferried people across the swollen river, guided by ropes and safety lines. Rescuers carefully helped civilians wearing rain ponchos and backpacks onto the muddy shore.

A yellow ambulance waited on higher ground as the team completed the evacuation of 40 isolated campers. The operation used a combination of a temporary cable car and dinghies.

Firefighters remain on site to monitor the area and ensure the safety of the terrain.

The poster described the operation as a coordinated effort to evacuate campers stranded by the swollen torrent and heavy rain.
