Teramo, Italy – On the evening of April 5, 2026, authorities held a coordination meeting in Silvi to address a severe landslide impacting the area.
Officials at the meeting included Abruzzo’s regional fire chief Tornatore, the head of the national Civil Protection Department Ciciliano, the President of the Abruzzo region Marsilio, national, regional, and local representatives, and law enforcement agencies.
The landslide, caused by extreme weather affecting both the coast and inland areas of Teramo, struck a slope in Silvi Paese. Several homes collapsed, leading to the urgent evacuation of multiple families.
Drone footage captured the scope of the disaster, providing a clear view of the damaged slope and the areas affected by the slide.
Authorities emphasized the fire brigade’s immediate response, deploying operational teams and specialized units to monitor the landslide and implement urgent measures to safeguard public safety and property.
