Orleans, Louisiana – Police were called to Pricilla Landing for an unusual incident: a runaway rooster wreaking havoc in a backyard. Officers Sgt. Cronin, Sgt. Dinn, and Officer Peters responded to the scene.
Bodycam footage shows Sgt. Cronin trying to negotiate with the agile bird, which refused to cooperate. When discussions failed, Cronin gave chase through the yard, but the rooster’s speed and nimble moves made a first capture attempt unsuccessful.
In a coordinated second effort, Sgt. Dinn flanked the rooster, forcing it into a position where Cronin could secure it with a net. Dinn quickly covered the bird with a blanket and placed it safely in a cage.
The rooster was handed over to the Animal Rescue League. The unusual call shows that police work can be unpredictable, even when the suspect is feathered.
