Fuel Price Protest Sparks Loud Nighttime Cacerolazo In Chile

Santiago, Chile – A loud nighttime cacerolazo protest erupted in the Plaza Nunoa neighborhood, as residents filled the area with the sound of banging pots, pans, and kitchen utensils.

From balconies and windows, people energetically created a continuous, rhythmic noise that echoed through the surrounding streets. The scene, viewed from a high balcony, shows apartment buildings with illuminated windows as the collective clanging dominates the atmosphere.

The protest took place on the night of March 25, 2026, in response to the Chilean government’s announcement of a sharp increase in fuel prices, known as a bencinazo. Many citizens saw the move as a heavy burden on their cost of living.

As the noise carried across the neighborhood, the distant lights of Santiago shimmered in the background, while the sustained banging reflected widespread public anger and dissatisfaction through this traditional form of peaceful protest.

The person who shared the footage described it as “Strong cacerolazo in the Plaza Nunoa area now here is the video”.
