Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park, California – On March 25th at around 3:20 p.m., the Monterey Fire Communication Center requested assistance for an immobile hiker on the Ewoldsen Trail in a remote section of the park.
CHP Coastal Division Air Operations deployed H-70, and a crew member was lowered by hoist to reach the injured hiker. The hiker was confirmed to have a broken ankle.
Using a rescue vest, the hiker was hoisted safely into the helicopter and transported to an awaiting ambulance on Highway 1 at Vista Point. Emergency personnel provided further treatment for the injuries.
