Nottingham, United Kingdom – Shocking CCTV footage captured the moment a car drove directly on a railway line, putting lives at risk near the University Boulevard stop. The black Vauxhall Insignia bounced along the gravel track, which is strictly for trams, as it headed toward Queen’s Medical Centre.
The driver, Levi Gomez, 27, continued along the railway and stopped outside Nottingham Hockey Centre but remained on the track. A passing St John Ambulance crew spotted the danger and intervened. One paramedic pulled Gomez from the vehicle, preventing what could have been a serious accident.
The incident occurred at approximately 6:30 a.m. on April 6 last year. CCTV clearly shows the car tailgating a tram and moving along the gravelled railway designed only for tram use. Gomez appeared heavily intoxicated and a deal bag of cannabis, along with several bottles of alcohol, was later recovered from the car.
Sergeant James Rimmington of Nottinghamshire Police praised the paramedic’s brave actions and the swift police response. “Driving along a railway track is incredibly dangerous… Gomez showed absolutely no regard for anyone’s safety,” he said.
Thanks to the quick intervention, no one was harmed during the incident. The footage serves as a stark warning of the dangers of driving on railway lines.
