Swift Rescue Saves 11 After Pontoon Boat Overturns Near Fort Myers Beach

Fort Myers Beach, FL – On Tuesday, March 24, 2026, around 2:10 p.m., the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Marine Unit responded to an overturned pontoon boat carrying 11 people near Fort Myers Beach.

Deputies arrived on the scene within three minutes of the call. With the help of multiple good Samaritans, all 11 occupants were safely rescued from the water.

Two individuals were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Authorities said the boat capsized due to a large wave combined with high winds. The overturned pontoon was later towed away.
