Arabian Sea – Flight operations aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72) are underway in support of Operation Epic Fury.
Deck crews wearing bright yellow, red, and green vests and helmets directed gray F/A-18 Super Hornets and dark F-35 Lightning II jets across the crowded flight deck. Steam rose from the catapults as aircraft taxied, lined up, and launched one after another into the clear daylight sky above the open ocean.
Operations continued into the night under floodlights and glowing deck markings. Crew members used illuminated wands to guide a Super Hornet into position before it launched off the bow, the brilliant orange afterburner flames lighting up the dark sea and carrier superstructure.
The cycle of launches was rapid and coordinated, showcasing round-the-clock combat air operations.
The poster described the scene as: “Flight operations aboard USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) continue in support of Operation Epic Fury, as the aircraft carrier sails across regional seas.”
