The impact is violent, with sparks and the sound of metal scraping as both the aircraft and the vehicle skid before stopping amid heavy smoke and flashing emergency lights.

The plane carrying the person recording, which was preparing to depart for Miami, is forced to abort takeoff. The flight is later canceled, and passengers disembark as the situation unfolds.

The incident occurred late on March 22 into early March 23, 2026, around 11:45 p.m., when the Air Canada jet arriving from Montreal struck the fire truck, which was responding to a separate odor issue involving another aircraft.

The collision results in the deaths of both pilots, while dozens of passengers and fire truck occupants are injured, some critically.

Authorities temporarily shut down LaGuardia Airport following the crash, with operations resuming the next day at reduced capacity.
