Hersilia, Argentina – Footage recorded by X user Danel Leiva shows massive flocks of green parrots, known as loros, overtaking a maize field in Hersilia, Santa Fe.
Hundreds of birds descend onto the tall green stalks, aggressively pecking at the ears and kernels, while others circle above in chaotic flight or gather densely along the rows.
The scene reveals extensive damage as the parrots continue stripping the crop under bright daylight.
The situation was observed during a field inspection, with the view moving across the affected area as the birds persist in relentless feeding.
These same flocks had already wiped out the sunflower harvest earlier in the season, increasing concern among farmers.
The farmer warns that the birds are now shifting toward sorghum and the remaining maize, with no effective way to control them.
The post describing the situation stated: “The story continues… We are worried about the sorghum and also the maize we have now since the sunflower will no longer be there”.
