Tokyo, Japan – A large and energetic nighttime crowd of thousands of protesters filled the streets and sidewalks outside the Japanese House of Representatives Members’ Office Building, showing visible anger and intensity.
Participants waved glowing penlights, creating waves of green, blue, red, and purple light across the packed area. Many held banners, placards, and signs while chanting slogans, clapping, and marching across crosswalks as cars and emergency vehicles moved through the surrounding streets under traffic lights and illuminated buildings.
The tightly packed gathering spread into nearby intersections beneath streetlights and the night sky, with constant movement and noise from the crowd.
The protest took place on March 19, 2026, as part of the ongoing “19th Action” series organized by anti-war and pro-constitution groups. Approximately 11,000 people attended, calling for an immediate end to U.S.-Israeli attacks on Iran and opposing efforts by the Takaichi administration to revise Japan’s pacifist Peace Constitution.
The poster described the event as: “We participated in the March 19 action in front of the parliamentary office building to oppose attacks on Iran and to protect and uphold the Peace Constitution from the Takaichi administration. This level of energy and public anger has not been seen in a long time.”
