Man Caught Stealing Septic Tank After Bizarre Two-Day Scheme

Dunnellon, Florida – On February 27, 2026, Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a theft at a construction site on the 21600 block of W Highway 40. Surveillance footage revealed Alfio Nocifora’s unusual attempt to steal a septic tank using a 2013 Toyota Corolla on February 22.

The video shows Nocifora struggling to move the tank, but his plan failed when a Jeep Cherokee arrived, prompting him to flee the scene.

Undeterred, Nocifora returned the next day with a rented U-Haul truck. He managed to load the septic tank along with about $2,500 worth of electrical pipe, covering the license plate and U-Haul identification number with tape to avoid detection.

Detective Zezuski identified Nocifora and obtained an arrest warrant. He was located in Citrus County and taken into custody.

Nocifora now faces charges including Grand Theft, Unlawful Use of a Two-Way Device, and Intentionally Obscuring a License Plate During the Commission of a Crime.
