Marion County, United States – Deputies from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office responded to a disturbance on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at around 8:30 p.m. at Tidal Wave Auto Spa on SW 95th Street Road.

When Deputies LaFountain and Kearns arrived, they found 36-year-old Bryce Thayer being restrained by an 18-year-old victim at the scene.

Investigators determined that Thayer had approached two employees at the car wash while they were closing. After being told to leave the property, he became irate and moved toward the two victims in a threatening manner while holding an axe.

The 18-year-old victim lunged at Thayer in an attempt to take the weapon away and managed to bring him to the ground. The second victim then removed the axe from Thayer’s grip.

The victim continued restraining Thayer until deputies reached the location. He was taken into custody, and a search later found that he was carrying drug paraphernalia.

Thayer was transported to the Marion County Jail, where he remains held on an $11,000 bond.
