Huesca, Spain – The Guardia Civil carried out two mountain rescue operations over the weekend in the Spanish Pyrenees, helping climbers and a skier in distress.
The first operation began Saturday at 18:10 after authorities received a call reporting that two climbers were unable to continue due to heavy snow. The men, aged 38 and 29, spent the night stranded on the mountain before requesting help.
The GREIM unit from Panticosa responded, first by vehicle and then on foot. After locating the climbers, officers guided them to a point where the Huesca Air Unit evacuated them by helicopter. They were flown to safety and returned to their vehicle. The operation concluded Sunday at 09:30.
The second rescue occurred Sunday at 13:30 when a 63-year-old woman suffered a fall while mountain skiing. The GREIM unit, Huesca Air Unit, and a 061 medical team were deployed. She was evacuated by helicopter and transported to Hospital San Jorge in Huesca with a knee injury.
