Near Shrine Bowl, Colorado, United States – An avalanche was triggered when a rider entered a slope near Shrine Bowl during a backcountry outing.
According to the observation summary, the slide occurred as the rider moved onto the slope, setting off the avalanche.
Notes from CAIC state the route passed near Shrine Bowl before continuing roughly two miles into the trees on terrain facing Interstate 70.
The avalanche was triggered on that slope as the rider entered the area, causing the snow to release.
