San Giovanni Lupatoto, Italy – A she wolf in danger was rescued by firefighters after ending up in an artificial canal in San Giovanni Lupatoto on Wednesday, March 4, 2026.

The animal had taken refuge on the pillar of a pedestrian footbridge after falling into the canal.

Rescue teams responded and, after the she wolf was sedated, firefighters operating with river rescue equipment recovered the animal from the water.

Once safely retrieved, the she wolf was handed over to veterinarians for care.
