Video From 400 Miles Away Shows SpaceX Crew-8 Rocket Launch Over Surfside Beach

Surfside Beach, South Carolina – Footage captured on March 3, 2026, shows the SpaceX Crew-8 rocket launch visible from Surfside Beach around 10:51 p.m. EST. The rescheduled liftoff from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida sent four astronauts to the International Space Station.

The video shows the rocket igniting and climbing into the night sky, leaving a bright trail visible from the beach.

The footage captures stage separations and the rocket’s ascent in real time, offering a clear view of the launch from over 400 miles away along the East Coast.

The mission carried astronauts Matthew Dominick, Michael Barratt, Jeanette Epps, and cosmonaut Alexander Grebenkin for a six-month stay on the International Space Station. The Dragon capsule docked successfully on March 5.
