Roma, Texas – The Texas Department of Public Safety Brush Team assisted the U.S. Border Patrol on February 24, 2026, after a group of illegal immigrants crossed the Rio Grande and took refuge in an abandoned house in Roma.
As troopers approached the residence, several individuals fled on foot. DPS Brush Team members gave chase and successfully apprehended multiple people.
The group of seven included nationals from Colombia, El Salvador, Mexico, and Honduras. Some were wearing colored wristbands, commonly used by cartels to indicate payment for smuggling facilitation.
