Orange River, Florida, USA – On February 25, 2026, a manatee mother and her calf were rescued from the Orange River after the mother was found injured and in need of help.
The rescue involved the LCSO Marine Unit, Advanced Technology Support Unit, and Florida Fish and Wildlife. Drone pilots provided crucial aerial support, live-streaming video to guide rescue boats during the operation.
Thanks to careful coordination, both manatees were safely removed from the river. They will be transported to ZooTampa for medical care.
