Stafford Township, US – During the response to a fire on February 13, 2026, Sgt. Woodring, SMPO Brown, Ptl. Otte, and Ptl. O’Rourke encountered an individual attempting to escape by jumping from a second-story outdoor balcony.
Through quick thinking, teamwork, and selfless action, the officers were able to safely catch the individual, preventing serious injury or loss of life. Body-worn camera footage captures the intensity of the rapidly unfolding emergency and the decisive actions taken by the officers.
Chief James Haldenwang praised the response, saying, “This incident is a powerful example of the dedication and courage of our officers. What these officers did was truly amazing. Their quick, selfless actions undoubtedly saved this man’s life, and I am awestruck by the heroics displayed.”
While the fire tragically resulted in the loss of life, authorities extend sincere condolences to the families and loved ones affected.
All assisting law enforcement agencies, fire departments, EMS personnel, and partner agencies were recognized for their coordinated response and support during the incident.
