Navy Robot Dog Opens Doors And Walks Up Stairs

Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii – August 28, 2025 – Spot, the robotic dog, performed a technology demonstration at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility, showcasing its advanced capabilities for potential real-world applications.

During the demonstration, the robot successfully opened doors and walked up stairs, highlighting tasks it could perform in emergency response and other Navy operations.

The event is part of a collaboration between PHNSY & IMF and the Naval Nuclear Laboratory to explore practical uses for robotic systems in supporting fleet missions.

PHNSY & IMF’s mission is to keep the Navy’s fleet “Fit to Fight” by repairing, maintaining, and modernizing fast-attack submarines and surface ships. Located in the Pacific, it is the most comprehensive fleet repair and maintenance facility between the U.S. West Coast and the Far East.
