Snowblower Battles Massive Drifts After Winter Storm Fern Slams Massachusetts

Mansfield, Massachusetts – Video filmed by X user Brian H Levesque shows his Ariens snowblower at work on February 23, 2026, as he cleared his property following Winter Storm Fern, a brutal nor’easter that buried southeastern New England under more than 20 inches of heavy, wet snow.

The red machine is positioned along a narrow, freshly carved path in the driveway, its chute angled upward as snow continues to fall in near-whiteout conditions. High banks of plowed snow line both sides, and the blower’s tracks cut through the slushy base left by overnight drifts that turned driveways into trenches.

The footage captures the machine idling and edging forward, marking steady progress through foot-deep accumulation while trees in the background sag under the weight of snow.

Winter Storm Fern placed Massachusetts under blizzard warnings, with wind gusts reaching 60 mph. More than 410,000 customers statewide lost power, schools were shut down, and travel bans were implemented as the storm swept across the region.
