Baltimore, US – Early on February 15, 2026, at around 12:05 a.m., a Southwest District patrol officer responded to a report of armed individuals attempting to break into a home on the 800 block of W. Lombard Street.
Upon arrival, the officer encountered a Kia sedan occupied by multiple people. As he approached the car on foot and issued commands for the occupants to exit, the driver reversed and struck the officer, causing him to fall. In response, the officer discharged his firearm once at the car.
The Kia continued fleeing, hitting another parked car and the officer’s patrol car before later being found unoccupied in the 100 block of S. Arlington Avenue.
Investigators determined the Kia had been reported stolen the previous day. Two 14-year-old males were arrested on February 16 and charged with aggravated assault and auto theft. The 14-year-old female driver, who had sustained a wrist wound prior to her arrest, was charged with aggravated assault and stolen auto and placed on electronic monitoring.
Officer William Cole, a five-year veteran of the Southwest District Patrol, sustained an ankle injury during the incident and was treated and released from the hospital. The Baltimore Police Department’s Special Investigations Response Team (SIRT) is conducting a full investigation.
