Venice, Italy – On the afternoon of February 19, 2026, firefighters carried out a daring operation at the Tronchetto water terminal to recover a van that had plunged into the canal. The driver had already exited the vehicle and was safe before the fall.
The recovery operation involved a full team, including divers and the heavy-lift crane from the Padua Command. Divers attached specialized lifting balloons to the submerged van, bringing it carefully back to the surface.
Once afloat, the van was towed to a secure location for safe lifting onto land. The coordinated effort ensured the vehicle was recovered without injury, highlighting the skill and precision of the emergency teams.
