Falcon 9 Roars Into Orbit As SpaceX Sends 29 Starlink Satellites Skyward

Florida, United States – Another mission was added to the record books as SpaceX launched 29 Starlink satellites into low Earth orbit on Sunday.

The Falcon 9 rocket lifted off at 6:31 p.m. EDT from Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, carrying the Starlink Group 6-100 payload.

Roughly nine minutes after launch, the rocket’s upper stage reached its initial orbit and prepared to release the satellites about an hour later following a coast phase and a second Merlin engine burn.

The mission marked the 24th successful flight of the Falcon 9 first stage booster B1080. After separation, the booster returned to Earth and landed upright on the droneship “A Shortfall of Gravitas” positioned in the Atlantic Ocean.

The expanding Starlink network now includes more than 9,500 active satellites, according to tracker Jonathan McDowell. The system delivers internet service to areas with limited connectivity and also supports airline WiFi and select direct cell-to-satellite calling.

Sunday’s flight became SpaceX’s eighth launch of 2026 and the 591st Falcon 9 mission since 2010.
