Indianapolis, Indiana – Indianapolis Fire Department firefighters conducted their fourth working elevator technical rescue of the year at 115 N Pennsylvania Street.
Two occupants, including a 60-year-old man, were trapped between the first and second floors while traveling from floor 1 to floor 6. The elevator abruptly stopped and shook, then displayed an “out of service” message.
Apartment management called 911, and IFD crews arrived promptly. Firefighters manually stabilized the car to prevent unwanted movement and secured a safety line for both rescuers and passengers.
After approximately 45 minutes, both occupants were safely removed. The man was taken to Methodist Hospital for a checkup, and no serious injuries were reported.
This rescue highlights IFD’s ongoing efforts in technical elevator emergencies across Indianapolis.
