Storm Winds Rip Rooftop Apart As Debris Flies Across Catalonia

Terrassa, Catalonia, Spain – A video filmed by X user Adrià Suárez shows violent wind gusts tearing apart a rooftop structure on Carrer Tortosa during a powerful storm on February 12, 2026.

The handheld footage captures what appears to be a greenhouse or lightweight roof enclosure being ripped from the top of a multi-story brick building. Sheets of metal roofing, insulation, wooden beams, and other materials are violently torn loose and hurled into the air.

Twisted metal frames bend and snap as part of the structure collapses, sending debris scattering against a dramatic sunset sky filled with orange clouds and blue patches.

Below, a person can be seen looking out from an open window on a lower floor, watching as the destruction unfolds overhead.

Surrounding buildings with balconies, tiled roofs, and parked cars line the street beneath stormy conditions, with dust and airborne debris reducing visibility and intensifying the danger.

No injuries are visible in the clip, but the footage highlights the sudden risk caused by structural failure during extreme gusts.

The video was posted around 07:57 GMT with a caption referencing strong winds in Terrassa and the Carrer Tortosa location, as the storm swept through the area.

The damage occurred during Storm Nils, which struck Catalonia with exceptionally powerful winds. Gusts reached 92 kilometers per hour in Terrassa and climbed even higher in other parts of the region, triggering red alerts, widespread disruptions, service suspensions, travel warnings, and hundreds of emergency responses linked mainly to wind damage.
