Firefighter Hurt As Massive Blaze Engulfs San Bernardino Building

San Bernardino, California – San Bernardino County Fire units responded to a large commercial structure fire at the intersection of 4th Street and E Street.

The blaze erupted in a two-story building, with flames quickly escalating. Firefighters initially launched an offensive attack but transitioned to a defensive strategy as the fire intensified. A second alarm was requested.

Battalion Chief 128 assumed command of the incident, overseeing the response of 15 engines, three trucks, a medic squad, three battalion chiefs, three assistant chiefs, a rehab unit, a robotics unit, a fire investigator, a breathing support unit, and two public information officers.

One firefighter was transported to a local trauma center with moderate injuries. Authorities warned that the intersection of 4th Street and North E Street would remain closed for several hours.

After extensive efforts, 4thStreetIC declared knockdown. Crews will continue on-scene for approximately one hour to ensure the fire is fully extinguished using exterior water streams. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Assistance was provided by the Rialto Fire Department and San Manuel Fire Department.
