Monterey, TN – Earlier this evening, Sgt. Bennett attempted an unscheduled test on a residential porch within city limits.

As he stepped onto the porch, he tripped, fell, and broke his ankle. Officials confirmed the porch remained intact, but Sgt. Bennett’s pride did not. “Gravity continues to be undefeated,” the department said.

Fellow officers watched and couldn’t hide their amusement, laughing as the mishap unfolded.

The Monterey Police Department explained the maneuver was a highly advanced technique called a “Rapid Tactical Descent,” designed to prepare officers for unexpected elevation changes. Sgt. Bennett executed it “FLAWLESSLY,” despite the personal cost.

No porches were harmed in the incident, though Sgt. Bennett’s dignity is currently under review.

The department assured citizens that, in addition to protecting and serving, officers remain committed to inspecting porches—whether requested or not.
