Police Capture Suspects After Stolen Car Became Airborne Then Crashed During Pursuit

Denver, Colorado – Early yesterday morning, Denver police officers located a stolen vehicle after receiving a Flock alert in District 2. Officers briefly followed the car in an unmarked vehicle to deploy StarChase equipment, which shoots a sticky GPS dart onto the target vehicle.

The dart missed, prompting officers to activate their lights and sirens. A masked passenger leaned out of the car and pointed a gun at officers. No shots were fired, but it became clear the suspects needed to be stopped immediately.

A high-speed pursuit ensued. The stolen vehicle hit a median, became airborne, and ultimately crashed at Boiling Drive and North Hannibal Street. Despite the crash, the suspects attempted to flee on foot.

Through coordinated efforts with the Denver Police Department, all three suspects were found hiding in backyards. They were identified as 18-year-old Angelo Munguia, 18-year-old Watti Heng, and a 17-year-old juvenile.

Police confirmed the vehicle had been reported stolen from a neighboring city. The incident highlighted both the dangerous actions of the suspects and the effectiveness of officer teamwork in keeping the community safe.
