Charlotte, USA – Charlotte Fire Department crews rescued a driver stranded in a pickup truck that had gone off the road and into a retention pond near Jerimoth Drive and Cuddington Drive.

As water filled the cab, the driver climbed into the truck bed and waited while firefighters worked in cold, dark water to reach them.

The driver was freed at 8:25 p.m., with the rescue completed just minutes later.

Officials highlighted the operation as an example of “real-time decision making” and praised the teamwork under pressure. They emphasized, “This is the work CHARLOTTE FIREFIGHTERS do when seconds matter.”
