Minneapolis, United States – A tense scene unfolded in south-central Minneapolis on January 25, 2026, as a group of 15–20 people marched through snow-covered streets amid tear gas haze.
Video filmed by X user Charlie Rybak shows the protesters walking steadily along a narrow, partially cleared street near the intersection of 26th Street, 27th Street, and Nicollet Avenue. The participants were bundled in heavy winter gear, including puffy jackets, hoods, hats, gloves, and boots, with some wearing bright colors such as yellow and neon.
Snow blankets the ground and piles along the sides, while bare trees, bushes, overhead power lines, and nearby buildings, including a white-peaked house and a larger blue-gray structure, create an urban winter backdrop. A black dumpster with graffiti, including “BLM” tags, stands on the side of the street.
Thick white smoke or tear gas drifts from ahead, reducing visibility as people emerge from and disappear into the haze. The protesters moved calmly and deliberately, without running or scattering, while federal agents reportedly deployed tear gas at 27th Street, and state troopers remained calm at 26th Street.
The post accompanying the video read: “Scenes from 26th and 27th and Nicollet. The state troopers are at 26th and very calm. The feds are at 27th and wildly shooting gas into the street.” The footage captures the stark contrast between the bright, sunny winter day and the chaotic, smoky conditions at street level.
