Brave Fire Crew Rescues Exhausted Deer Trapped On Breaking Ice

Curr Reservoir, Colorado – Firefighters from Truck 4 responded early on January 13 after Colorado Parks and Wildlife reported an injured deer stranded on the ice at Curr Reservoir near the County Club of Colorado.

The deer had fallen through the ice but managed to pull itself out, leaving it exhausted and unable to move far from the break.

The crew donned full ice-rescue gear and carefully approached the animal on the frozen surface. Despite being frightened, the deer was safely secured in a harness and brought back to solid ground.

Driver/Engineer Neilsen shared a brief, calming moment with the deer as it was guided to shore. Once on land, the animal regained its strength and ran back into the wild.

Authorities thanked Colorado Parks and Wildlife for their cooperation, noting that teamwork made the rescue possible and gave the deer a second chance in its natural habitat.
