Toronto, Ontario, Canada – A protest took place on January 13, 2026, outside the US Consulate on University Avenue as Iranian demonstrators gathered to call for regime change in Iran.
The rally was one of several solidarity demonstrations held across Canada and internationally in support of ongoing anti-government protests in Iran, which erupted over economic hardship, corruption, and repression under the Islamic Republic regime.
Organized by Iranian-Canadian groups, the Toronto demonstration drew hundreds to thousands of participants urging US President Donald Trump to act following his recent statements that “help is on the way” to Iranian protesters.
Demonstrators chanted slogans including “Trump Act Now,” “Regime Change for Iran,” and “Make Iran Great Again,” while waving pre-revolutionary Iranian flags symbolizing opposition to the current theocracy.
The protest coincided with Iran’s nationwide internet blackout and communication restrictions, which left many Iranian-Canadians unable to contact family members.
The event remained peaceful, with Toronto police using bike barricades for crowd control and no arrests or incidents reported.
Similar rallies occurred in Ottawa, Vancouver, Montreal, and internationally in cities such as Milan and London.
