Baltimore, United States – On October 26, 2025, at approximately 4:44 p.m., Central District officers responded to a residence in the 900 block of St. Paul Street following a report of an animal bite.
Upon arrival, officers spoke with the dog’s owner, a 33-year-old man, through the door. He told officers that the dog was acting aggressively and had bitten him. Officers attempted to have the owner secure the dog in another room, but the effort was unsuccessful.
Shortly after, the dog began attacking the owner inside the residence. The man managed to exit the home while the dog continued its attack. Two officers discharged their service weapons, fatally wounding the dog and striking the owner.
The owner sustained a gunshot wound to the leg and multiple bite wounds. He was transported to a local hospital, where he is listed in stable condition.
The officers involved were Officer Latesha Holton, a three-year veteran, and Sergeant Jaamal Johnson, a 24-year veteran. Both are assigned to the Operations Bureau, Central District Patrol.
The Baltimore Police Department’s Special Investigations Response Team (SIRT) is investigating the incident. The Department has activated its Public Release of Critical Incident Recordings Policy.
