Lompoc, USA – A liquid nitrogen tanker truck developed a leaking valve on West Central Avenue at North Artesia Avenue, just west of Lompoc. The vehicle was carrying approximately 7,800 pounds of liquid nitrogen.
Authorities quickly isolated the area to ensure public safety. Firefighters monitored the site, noting that liquid nitrogen is an inert, non-flammable gas but requires careful handling.
By 8:37 p.m., firefighters had successfully contained the leak, preventing further release of the hazardous material.
Operations are set to continue the following morning, when the remaining liquid nitrogen will be pumped into another tanker for safe transport.
The incident underscores the importance of rapid response and strict safety measures when dealing with hazardous chemicals on public roads.
