Teen Swept Away By Violent Waves Rescued Just In Time

San Juan, Philippines – The Philippine Coast Guard responded to a near-drowning incident involving a 16-year-old female in the coastal waters of San Juan, La Union, on January 11, 2026.

Coast Guard personnel noticed the beachgoer struggling to reach the shoreline after being overpowered by strong waves and currents. She was dragged roughly 15 meters away from shore by the force of the water.

A rescue operation was immediately launched using appropriate lifesaving equipment. The Coast Guard team managed to bring the teenager safely back to land.

An initial medical assessment was carried out on the shoreline. The evaluation confirmed that the victim was in good physical condition and had no visible injuries or abrasions.

The girl, a resident of Zaragoza, Nueva Ecija, was later handed over to her family members who were at the scene.
