Santa Claus Makes Dramatic Helicopter Arrival On Christmas Eve

Nuuk, Greenland – Video filmed by X user Orla Joelsen on December 24, 2025, captures a festive Christmas Eve celebration in Greenland’s capital.

The footage shows a snowy residential area with low-rise colorful buildings, including a prominent red structure with white trim. A group of about 10-12 people, mostly children bundled in heavy winter clothing along with a few adults, gather on a snow-covered hill, waving excitedly and looking skyward.

A helicopter, likely an Airbus H155 or similar model used by Air Greenland, makes several low flybys over the group. The rotor noise is loud, and the children appear thrilled, some jumping or pointing as the aircraft passes directly overhead.

The video’s caption reads: “Santa Claus arrives in Nuuk, Greenland 🇬🇱 by helicopter from the North Pole. Merry Christmas. December 24, 2025 (11:15am) Temp: -9°C.”

This event is a beloved local tradition, with Santa Claus arriving by helicopter to greet children on Christmas Eve. Due to Greenland’s Arctic conditions, helicopter arrivals replace the traditional reindeer sleigh. The low passes are safely coordinated, creating excitement without incident.

The clip has gone viral online, with thousands of likes and shares sending Merry Christmas wishes to Greenlanders, highlighting the joyful spirit of the holiday.
