Martinez, Argentina – Video recorded by X user MARIA shows severe flooding on the Panamericana Highway’s Acceso Norte branch near the Unicenter shopping center in Martinez, Buenos Aires province.
The footage captures a wide section of the multi-lane highway turned into a fast-moving river of muddy brown water. Flood levels are high enough to partially submerge vehicles, forcing cars to push through strong waves. Traffic lights remain visible above the water as debris floats past under heavy, rain-filled skies.
The post is clearly tagged as Panamericana Unicenter Martinez. The person who filmed the video later confirmed to several media organizations, including Spectee and Newsflare, that she recorded the scene herself and approved its use by news outlets.
The video documents the impact of a sudden and intense storm that struck northern Greater Buenos Aires during the afternoon and evening of December 23, 2025, local time. Rainfall reached between 80 and 100 millimeters in less than an hour, nearly matching the usual total for the entire month of December.
Argentine media reported widespread damage from the storm. Cars were seen floating or fully submerged on sections of the Panamericana, particularly near Thames and Parana streets. More than 30 trapped drivers were rescued, streets were flooded, trees fell, and Unicenter mall experienced interior flooding and evacuations caused by roof leaks.
The storm was concentrated in northern and western areas including Martinez, San Isidro, Vicente Lopez, and San Martin, while central Buenos Aires city was less affected. No fatalities were widely reported, but the flooding caused major traffic disruption on the night before Christmas Eve.
