Atascosa County, TX – Dashcam footage captured a dramatic collision Wednesday night when a truck sideswiped an Atascosa County Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicle during a routine traffic stop.
Deputies had initiated a traffic stop on Highway 16 near Stacey Road around 6:50 p.m. in the northern part of the county. A two-man patrol unit was on scene at the time.
While deputies were speaking with the driver of the pulled-over car, a southbound truck struck the patrol vehicle. The patrol car was unoccupied and had all emergency lights activated, following standard protocol.
The truck then lost control and came to rest in a grassy area just south of the crash site.
Deputies immediately checked on the occupants of both the stopped vehicle and the truck. No one, including the deputies, was injured.
Texas DPS Troopers were called to investigate the collision, as is customary whenever an ACSO vehicle is involved in an accident.
