Severe Snow Blizzard Engulfs Calgary Neighborhood

Calgary, Canada – A video filmed on December 17, 2025 by X user Shaukat Ali Shafqat shows extreme whiteout conditions during a powerful snow blizzard in a residential neighborhood in Calgary, Alberta.

The footage, taken from an upper-floor window, captures a backyard and neighboring houses nearly hidden by heavy blowing snow and strong winds. Visibility is reduced to almost zero, with only the outline of a two-story house, a buried ATV or small vehicle, and a wooden fence faintly visible through the swirling gray-white haze.

No people or movement are seen in the scene due to the storm’s intensity. The Calgary resident who posted the video captioned it: “Snow blizzard. Calgary right now.” The footage quickly attracted attention from news agencies seeking permission to use it.

This blizzard is part of a larger winter storm system affecting the Canadian Prairies, including Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba, and spilling into parts of the northern United States. The storm prompted blizzard warnings, highway closures, severely reduced visibility, and chaotic travel conditions on December 17–18, 2025.
