Thurston County, Washington – A high-speed motorcycle pursuit ended dramatically early this morning when a law enforcement officer rugby tackled the rider from his motorcycle.
The chase began on Martin Way and continued onto southbound I-5 after a K9 unit spotted the motorcycle being driven recklessly and attempted a traffic stop. The rider accelerated to approximately 100 mph, prompting the pursuit. Exiting I-5 at Exit 105A, the suspect briefly slowed but ignored commands and tried to flee again.
Officers successfully apprehended the rider at the scene. Authorities later confirmed the suspect had an active arrest warrant out of Renton for reckless driving. A search of the motorcycle uncovered suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
The suspect was booked into Thurston County Jail on charges including attempting to elude a police vehicle, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. The investigation is ongoing.
