Floating Pumpkins Drift Across Flooded Rural Road In Washington Storm

Old Snohomish Monroe Road, Snohomish County, Washington – A post shared on X by Ben Martin on December 11, 2025, shows flooding overtaking Old Snohomish Monroe Road during a powerful atmospheric river storm in mid-December 2025.

The caption on the post reads: “Flooding on Old Snohomish Monroe Rd”.

The footage opens with a slow panoramic sweep across a broad, calm sheet of floodwater stretching over fields and the roadway beneath heavy gray skies. The Snohomish River had been pushed to record levels by the storm, contributing to the widespread inundation.

Bright orange pumpkins float and gently bob across the shallow water, standing out sharply against the muted landscape. The pumpkins appear to have been carried from a nearby farm or pumpkin patch. Power lines, utility poles, bare trees, and distant hills frame the flooded scene.

Closer views show the road fully submerged, with water covering pavement and roadside grass. Bushes sit half underwater, and utility poles rise alone from the flood, while no vehicles or active traffic are visible.

Near the end, the camera reaches the edge of a dry stretch of road. Several people, including one wearing camouflage clothing, stand or walk nearby as they look over the damage. The view pushes forward to reveal where floodwater suddenly overtakes the roadway, surrounding signs and lining the route with leafless winter trees.
