Officer Kills Pickup Driver In Crash While Running Red Light With Sirens On

Columbus, Ohio – Columbus police released dashcam and bodycam footage showing a deadly crash involving Officer Kaitlin Robinson on December 7.

The crash occurred around 2:48 a.m. while Robinson was responding to a 911 call. A woman had called police saying her son was banging on her doors and windows and threatened to put a bullet in him during the call.

Robinson was traveling east on West Broad Street with lights and sirens activated. As she approached a red light at the intersection with North Central Avenue, her cruiser collided with a white Chevy pickup.

The pickup driver, 30-year-old Corey Tinnes, was rushed to the hospital in critical condition but was pronounced dead less than 30 minutes later. Officer Robinson was hospitalized, treated, and released.

The released video confirms the officer had the red light and sirens activated at the time of the crash. Authorities are reviewing the incident.
