Halemaumau Crater, Kilauea Volcano, Island Of Hawaii – A summit webcam positioned on the south rim of Halemaumau crater at Kilauea’s summit was operating inside a hazardous closed area of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park when it was overtaken by volcanic debris.
Between 9:55 and 9:57 am HST on December 6, the camera was buried under tephra thrown out by an inclined lava fountain.
The impact occurred during episode 38, which began this morning at 8:45 am.
