Sakurajima Volcano Erupts, Spewing Plume 1700 Meters High

Sakurajima, Japan – The Sakurajima volcano erupted at 14:24 on November 8, 2025, sending a towering ash plume 1,700 meters above the crater.

The eruption marked another powerful display from one of Japan’s most active volcanoes, known for frequent explosive activity.

The dense gray plume rose rapidly into the sky, visible from surrounding areas, as monitoring agencies recorded the event and continued to track volcanic conditions.
